If you're trying the web version, give it a minute to load once the loading bar completes the first time you play it. Shaders need to be compiled and it can take a little bit.

Or try out the Windows version below! If you're having weird bugs (like fights not loading, null encounters on the map, graphics issues), please make sure you're running it in Chrome (or on Mac, Safari), and if all else fails, try the Windows version. It has better graphics, more features, and is overall a much more pleasant experience!

This is the Alpha demo for Evoplasm. If you like the game it would mean the world to me if you would wishlist it on Steam. If you have any bugs, suggestions or feedback, leave a comment or let us know in our Discord. We love feedback.

About Evoplasm

Evolve and fight in this creature building Roguelike. Grow a creature by attaching new cells, add mutations to create powerful synergies, fight real-time tactical battles against weird enemies, and strategically choose a path across multiple campaign acts. Inspired by games like Spore and FTL.

Build Your Creature

Add new cells to your creature to grow. Cells can be surrounded by cell walls which add defense, but constrain your growth in the future, so you'll need to strategically balance how your creature grows and where your creature is defended.

Mutate to gain powerful synergies. Add a cryostalk to add a chance to freeze enemies to your attacks, then boost the freeze duration by mutating your cells into cryolymphs. Or add some leaves to your cells to add some local healing, boost your healing potential by mutating your cells into chloroplasts, then convert your healing into damage by mutating another cell with exotoxins. There are a staggering amount of possibilities.

Fight Tactical Battles

Fight weird creatures in real-time tactical battles. Many attacks are automatic but you can use special abilities to neutralize key cells in your enemy. Or target cells that are holding a creature together to literally break them apart. Pause the battle mid-combat to evaluate your strategy and decide if you need to keep fighting or flee instead.

Make Your Own Path

Choose a Strategic Path Across Three Campaign Acts. Mutations can help you reveal the encounters on the map so you can pick a path that lets you avoid battles and find helpful events instead. Or you can take on extra elite enemies for extra rewards. You're running out of time though, each move you make takes you closer to a challenging and intense boss fight! Will you be strong enough to survive?

Choose Your Fighter

Unlock a Multitude of Creatures and Mutations. You can start the game as a variety of different creatures, and build them any way you want. Or you can choose a wild start and build your creature completely from scratch! As you take on harder enemies, you'll unlock their mutations too. Complete your Evopedia! Or if you hate the notion of unlocking stuff, you'll love our "unlock all" button.

Loved this game. So promissing!!! The sad part is that it ends when I still wanna upgrade xD

👍 Darwin probably would be proud of you.

Thanks for playing! The full version will you keep on building for two more acts, just have to finish the rest of it 😅

Great game, it was sloppy, but I guess downloaded version works much better - so it's probably on me. I think it's enjoyable and great game and I hope it gets developed further.

I didn't do well in this game, because I didn't have any idea how elite enemy looks like (you can't just check out what's the opponent in the node and run I think?) so after a long struggle in that fight I got deleted. And also you have to keep track of cell's health (they do not heal after the battle if I recall correctly), which I think would be easier if cells had some visual effects, which shows they're getting at 50% or lower hp.

Thanks for checking it out! The web version is pretty rough performance-wise but yeah the Windows version should be better.

It's a little unintuitive but cell health is represented by the little bumps (organelles) on the cell. They disappear as cells get hurt. I should explain that better in game.

Thanks for playing!

Reminds me of hexcelle, which is probably a good thing.  The mutations could probably use some balance tweaking, but the game is fun in its present state, which is a great sign.  Beat it second try.

Thanks so much! Definitely needs a balance pass soon, will get on in as I build out act 2 and 3.
